Boston Pizza International's strategic focus on the development of successful franchise operations is summed up by its Mission Statement.


Our Mission

Boston Pizza International is a franchise-driven restaurant company, and operates only three of the over 340 restaurants in Canada as corporate restaurants. These corporate restaurants are located in Richmond, British Columbia; Oakville, Ontario; and Laval, Quebec. These corporate restaurants also serve as franchisee training centres, and allow BPI to test market new menu items and programs before launch throughout the Boston Pizza franchise system.

To achieve this goal we are innovative and responsive in our approach in business. We work as a team providing attention to detail but never losing sight of the larger picture. We recognize the need to provide leadership in all areas of operations, marketing and restaurant development.

This focus has underpinned the success of the Boston Pizza franchise system over the past 40 years, and is responsible for the growth of the concept from neighborhood pizzeria to casual dining leader.

The key to Boston Pizza's ongoing success has been its people. Co-Chairmen and Owners Jim Treliving and George Melville have assembled a winning corporate team that continues to build Boston Pizza International Inc. at an industry leading double digit growth rate, making us one of the most successful restaurant operations in North America.

Boston Pizza uses a formula that has worked since our inception. Think like a customer, deliver outstanding food value, quality and work closely with your partners. Our growth strategy is built on steady, carefully managed expansion and a commitment to develop the Boston Pizza brand. We have accomplished this by focusing on three strategic priorities “three pillars of success” that are the foundation for all decision making.

This focus on building same store sales while adding new units has been an important strategic advantage over competitors and ensured that BPI's market share is achieved profitably at the unit level.
